Soffit Update

Wednesday, July 10, 2013

We finally got it out, totally cleaned up, to then repair the drywall and have a whole new mess to cleanup.  My floors are getting close to having all the drywall dust off of them. It's kind of like after you get rid of your real Christmas tree and six months later are still finding pine needles.  In six month, I am confident I will find a little pile of drywall dust.  Anyway, I felt it was clean enough for me to at least feel ok about taking some updated pics.

I love how much it opens the house up.  We are all about having shared spaces, so we can do our own thing, but still be close enough to each other to chat.  Which is evidenced in this picture of our "living room", which is on the left,  that we turned into the kids playroom/study area.  Hiding all your kids toys in some room in the basement isn't my thing.  Not that I don't have WAY TOO many toys in the basement, but I want the stuff they really want to play with, easily accessible to them.  It's obvious we have kids and trying to make my house appear that we don't, isn't my thing.  We are also all about functional use of our space, who uses a formal living room nowadays?  Most of our entertaining is done in the kitchen, which opens up directly to our family room.  Big props to my husband who did all of the labor on this.  He is a champ and I am really proud of him for making this happen.  He moved into the official land of DIY extraordinaire.
