Ok, I have to be honest, I wrote that paragraph up above at about 10:00 am, it's now 10:56 pm and I am going to attempt to finish this post. It has been a CRAZY day! My house wreaks of paint, spray paint, and wood stain. Mark is also out of town, so I have been the solo mom of four adorable kiddos. There were lots of laughs, an epic meltdown (over the placement of magnets on the refrigerator) a lot of hair braiding and some falling asleep while hair is being braided. I will be sure to provide photograph and video proof of all these events.
First thing first. The Living Room. Below is a picture of what it looks like now.
There are things "living" in my living room, like 10 dining room chairs, a couch no one sits on and a lovely chaise lounge that no one sits on. These gorgeous items are for sale and most have already sold. I will use the money from the selling of these lovely items, to make this room usable!
So Sydney got us thinking. She would really like to have some barstools in the area below
This lovely area is currently the place where we stash various toys that the kids play with. You may be asking yourself why we have two basketball hoops, all I have to say about that is, full court baby. Full court toddler basketball. Fun times. This gorgeous area is also what I see while sitting in our family room, the room in the house that is just off the kitchen and gets TONS of use.
Then I looked around my family room and saw this
Kids toys, books, storage places, were slowly creating a ring around my couch, it's almost like all these items want to fence our poor little couch in and steal all it's sunshine. Our couch needs some room to breathe and frankly so do Mark and I when we want to sit down and watch a little 60 Minutes on a Sunday Night. We are all really on top of each other in this space and the toys are taking over!! We have a very kid friendly home and it's obvious when you come in that we have four kids who love to have fun! So without further adieu, I am saying good bye to my living room and turning it into a kids play area. I KNOW it might sound ridiculous, since the non-living living room, is the first thing you see when you come into our house. I'm hoping to really tie the space into the rest of house and hopefully make it flow.
This gorgeous painting is going to serve as my color inspiration
I don't know about you, but I am NOT one of those people who just naturally knows what colors go well together. So I always cheat and usually build a room around a piece of art. I also think that this painting is totally appropriate for the type of room we are creating, which is open to the rest of the house. I don't want it to be overly childish, I feel like this gives it a great balance with our family room.
I'm in the early stages of this project and need to get everything out of that room, to really begin. I have some ideas and inspiration though, so I hope to have it done, sooner rather than later!
I'm going to begin by slapping some paint onto this adorable kids table! I will post as soon as it's done.
Before I sign off, I wanted to share some pics of our fun night last night. Anytime Mark is out of town, we are all super bummed out and miss him tons. So I try to make the night extra fun, cook a fun dinner, eat a little extra chocolate, watch a great movie. So here are some pics of the night.
Because breakfast for dinner is AWESOME! and it totally feels like you are cheating out the system that designates certain foods for certain times!! The kids were super pumped up and they ate in record speed!
This is what it looks like every.single.time. Palmer is done eating
FOOD EVERYWHERE! He is so dang cute though, you just can't get mad.
This little video is of Cooper and Eddie having some sort of epic battle. Sorry for my annoying laughter, but it was just way too funny!
Then finally, Cooper's meltdown over magnets. Really, she was just incredibly tired.
That's all for now! I will post more on my new play area project.
